Where does the time go?

My oldest son will be getting a year older this week.  My baby’s going to be 11 years old.  Man, time sure does fly by!

We had a birthday party for him and my sister-in-law’s foster child yesterday.  We had cake, ice cream, and the kiddos played in the pool.   Oh, yeah, there were presents, too.   It seemed to me that the presents weren’t “even” if you catch my drift.  But, I’ve gotten used to it.  I just hope he didn’t notice the difference in the number of presents.  THAT’s right, she waited until he went back out to the pool to give her the rest.

Sorry if I sound snipey, but it bothers me.  My boys are her own flesh and blood, but they’re not treated like it most of the time.  I try not to let it bother me, but it does.  It hurts my sweet hubby, too.

We’ll be going to our friends’ house on Friday, and he’ll have another party there.  Guess that means I have to get him another present, huh? LOL

Have a great Monday!  Be blessed!

I just found out about this

As a homeschooling mom, I’m always on the lookout for things that will encourage and help me in homeschooling. One website that has done that is Values Driven Family .  They have items that are helpful in teaching my boys to be their best selves.  You may want to check it out.

I just found out that Cindy Carrier is participating in a Bloggy Giveaways carnival and has products to giveaway.  You’ll definitely want to check out her blog to enter.  You can click your mouse on the button below.

Before our cat Comet died, she had been bringing a younger kitten up to the house.  I’m guessing that she’s about 4 months at most.  AT first she was very skittish and ran whenever we came outside.  Then my oldest son was able to pet her.  Right before Comet died, the kitten decided to let us pet her.

The other day, I went outside to pet and feed her.  When I came in the house, she followed me.  Now, she thinks she’s a member of the family, and belongs in here with the rest of the cats.  Unfortunately, Waysaw isn’t too thrilled about having her in here.

Since she’s still basically a wild cat, but she’s very sweet.  Here’s a picture of her.  Isn’t she cute?

She’s a very friendly little kitten, can you tell?  She seems very much at home.  The biggest problem with her is that she likes to nibble on fingers, and it’s really hard to type when she’s doing that.  She also likes to walk on the keyboard, so we have to put her outside.

Sad news on the home front

We found our cat, Comet, outside.  She tried to be close to her family; she died really close to the house.

I know it’s silly to get emotional about a silly cat. But it still hurts. In fact, as I’m writing this, tears are running down my face.  It’s times like this that I wish the boys were more empathetic.  I’m crying my eyes out and they’re playing the Wii as if nothing has happened.

Unfortunately, my sweet hubby has the unpleasant task of burying her.

It seems like this week has been unusually long, and I don’t know why.  It’s the same seven days that we always get, but it’s been so slow for me.  How has it been for you?

I DID get the work I had due today done and sent in.  That makes me feel better.  Now I won’t feel quite so rushed today to get something done.  And, I can leisurely work on my next batch of articles at my own pace since they’re not due until the 1st.  I’m hoping to get them done by the 31st.  We’ll see how that goes.

My hubby has lost his recliner to the kittens.   Yesterday he got up and padded into the living room.  It’s a good thing he looked down after he turned the light on next to his chair.  The kittens were all peacefully sleeping in it and he almost sat on them!

Since they’re out and about most of the day now, their favorite place to nap is still hubby’s chair.  In fact, they’re up in it a good part of the day since they sleep a lot.

As you can see, they’re still nursing.  Maybe she’ll wean them soon.  It amazes me how they’ll lay all over the place, even over one another, to nurse.  And, I noticed something really cute the other day while I was watching them.  When Ditto nurses, her ears twitch.  I wish you could see it.

Work is beckoning me.  Have a blessed weekend!
