Random thoughts of one seeking her place in the worldPosts RSS Comments RSS

You’ll be proud of me.  I haven’t railed against my mother-in-law for her comments about our homeschooling.  My husband didn’t say anything, that I know of, to her either.  I guess she’s just going to get away with skewing my children’s minds.  At this point, I think if I said anything, I’d probably dredge up all the things that have bothered me lately about how she deals with my kids.  That wouldn’t be a pretty conversation, I’m afraid.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that if you’ve thought about homeschooling, and have said anything to your family about it, be prepared for some disagreements.  Don’t let them dissuade you, though.  If you feel the Father is calling you to homeschool, do everything you can to obey HIM.  Let other people have their doubts, but don’t let their opinions shape how you’re obedient.

There are so many blessings of homeschooling.  You can’t imagine the joy I feel when my boys finally “get” something.  I feel proud of them and am in awe that I had the opportunity to help them.  My husband and I are their major influences rather than children who don’t share our beliefs.  We don’t have to worry about them being introduced to drugs, alcohol, or sexually explicit information before we feel they’re ready.  Please don’t think that means we’re keeping them ignorant.  That is far from the truth.  We have more control of the information they receive and therefore the information they receive is TRUTH, not incorrect or partially correct.

I love being with my boys, for the most part.  There are days, of course, where I wish they were someplace else because they’re fighting or whiny, but I enjoy watching them learn and grow.  That would be impossible if they went to public school unless I could be cloned and sat in on their classes.

I’m trying to decide now if we’ll be making changes for next year.  There are some things I would like to do differently, but I’m not sure yet how to implement those changes.  Thankfully I have the summer to think and pray about it.

Well, I have work to do, so I’d better get to it.  Be blessed this beautiful Thursday.
