Our trip to the library
Posted in A day in the life of . . . on Mar 18th, 2008
Yesterday, after my son’s dentist appointment, we went to the library. The library in our town isn’t that great, but it has a decent kid’s section, and that’s where we went.
My oldest got five books the youngest got 8. Of the 13 books, my oldest has already finished two of the books. He can absolutely devour a book, not wanting to stop until he’s finished it. (I guess he gets that from his Mama.)
The youngest is on a “dragon” kick, so we looked for books about dragons. We found one and I’ve been reading to the kids a couple of chapters at a time. I guess we’re almost to the half-way point already. We’ll definitely be done with the book before it’s due at the end of the month. I’m sure my youngest will bug me to go back and get the other two when we’re finished with this one.
I really don’t mind reading to the boys, but I’m not sure if I’m doing them a service by MY reading. I wonder if they should be reading it themselves. The benefit, of course, is that *I* get to read the book, too, and we can have a discussion if there’s something in the book I don’t agree with.
I plan on getting to started on work after we eat lunch. Now all I have to do is figure out WHAT to have. We went to the store last night and I forgot all about lunch. How silly can I be? I guess it’s pb&j sandwiches again. Sigh. Well, I DID get some new apple butter, maybe I’ll give that a try.
Have a great day!
