Did you notice the late comer?

I read yesterday that Ralph Nader is joining the race for the position of President. This is Nader’s third attempt and I guess he’s hoping the third time’s a charm. I don’t doubt that he feels he’s a better candidate than the others currently running, but does he really think he has a chance getting into the race at such a late date? I mean, most of the primaries have already taken place.
So, the question that begs to be asked is which party Nader will choose to run under - Green, Libertarian, or Independent. And, will his entry into the fray make a difference to any of the five candidates still running.
Yes, I said five. At this point, despite his commanding lead in proposed electoral college counts, McCain isn’t the only Republican still running. Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul have vowed to stick to their guns and run until they can’t run any longer.
You know, you have to admire both of them for that decision. They know that not every Republican wants to have John McCain as their candidate come November, and they’re hoping to give Conservative Republicans other options.
Of course, Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama are running on the Democratic side. Who will win that nomination remains to be seen. Obama’s lead over Clinton isn’t quite as definitive as that of McCain over the other candidates, but he is leading at the moment.
As many as 18 other caucuses or primaries remain to take place. What difference will the outcomes of those primaries make? Who knows?
I’ve been thinking a lot about the Electoral College and I think it’s time for the college to get the old heave ho. When it was first established, the Electoral College served a great purpose. However, with the dawn of the information age, it seems that the populous vote should be more of a determining factor. Of course it won’t change by November, but I still believe it’s demise is close at hand.
Well, those are my political ponderings for the day. I don’t know if there will be more, it all depends on what happens in the news. We shall see, we shall see.
It’s way past my bed time and I need my beauty sleep. Have a great week everyone, and be blessed!!
